Carlson Performance is confronting the global crisis of water scarcity, food insecurity, and climate vulnerability head-on—by delivering scalable, community-powered solutions that transform urgent challenges into lasting impact.
World Challenges
01
Water crisis Africa
- 16M people—40% of the population—across key regions lack access to clean water
- 91% of small-scale farmers depend solely on rain, leaving livelihoods at risk
- In Ethiopia, food insecurity has surged 175%—22M now face hunger
- Kenya has lost over 136,000 km² of fertile land since 1980
- In Somalia, one failed rainy season has pushed 4.4M into crisis-level hunger
02
Food Crisis
The data further showed that 16.5 million children under five are set to face acute malnutrition this year, including nearly five million who are at risk of debilitating severe malnutrition.
Their numbers represent a staggering 83 percent rise in global acute malnutrition compared to the 2015 to 2022 average.
03
Training is it Dying?
The Decline
- Formal workplace training has dropped significantly in recent years. In the UK, for example, only 24% of workers reported receiving work-related training in a three-month period, down from 29% in 2002.
- The decline is sharpest among younger workers and those in lower-skilled roles.
- Many employers are underinvesting, focusing mostly on compliance (e.g. health and safety) rather than skill-building.
04
Waste Management Update
Current reasons for the poor management of waste in Africa, include, amongst others, weak organizational structures; lack of appropriate skills; inadequate budgets; weak legislation; lack of enforcement; low public awareness; corruption, conflict; political instability; and lack of political will.
